NEW DELHI: Following the outrage against joining of the Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik in the BJP on the social media, the top leadership of the party was forced to cancel his membership within hours on Sunday.

Muthalik, a social activist who has led a number of attacks on people in public premises and cultural events alleging their actions do not stand up to Indian culture, had joined the saffron party in in Hubli, Karnataka on Sunday.

However, within hours the social media was abuzz with criticism by people from various walks of life for entertaining notorious people with scant regards Indian law and value-based society.

His joining the party could not go well with even many leaders from within the party including Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar who had conveyed his opposition to the party leadership against his induction.

Muthalik, who was accused of collecting money in the name of Modi earlier, was welcomed to the party by Karnataka state party president Prahlad Joshi, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar and former deputy chief minister KS Eshwarappa.

After joining the party, he said his goal is to make Narendra Modi the next prime minister of India. Muthalik had joined RSS in 1975, and Shiv Sena in 2005 which he left after one year.
