NEW DELHI: In his maiden visit to the Parliament on Tuesday, Gujarat CM Narendra Modi went one step forward to become the next Prime Minister of India. BJP patriarch L K Advani proposed his name as the leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party, seconded by senior party colleagues Murli Manohar Joshi, Venkaiah Naidu, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley among others.

Modi bowed down on his knees at the entrance of the Parliament house as the former BJP president Nitin Gadkari greeted him along with Gopinath Munde, to the Central Hall which hosted the first meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party in the 16th Lok Sabha.

Party chief Rajnath Singh offered congratulations to all elected members, and called it a historic moment in Indian politics. “This is a historic moment for us and in the history of Indian politics,” Singh said, adding “Modi visited the Central Hall for the first time.”
