NEW DELHI: Delhi CM and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced a list of leaders and political heavyweights whom he called the most corrupt, and urged his party men as well as people to ensure they are defeated in the forthcoming general elections.

Addressing the National Council members from across the nation, he read a list of corrupt leaders and asked volunteers to name more and submit it to the party.

Kejriwal strongly condemned both BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for spending more than Rs 500 crores on branding and image building, adding if they will loot public money once they are in power.

The party chief announced that his party will field strong candidates against the corrupt politicians and do everything they can to ensure their defeat.

The CM also called upon people to come forward to join the anti-corruption fight and defeat the tainted leaders. The list included names of Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, several UPA ministers P Chidambaram, Sushilkumar Shinde, Kapil Sibal, Salman Khurshid, Veerappa Moily, Prakash Jaiswal, Kamal Nath, Pawan Bansal, Suresh Kalmadi, Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, SP supremo Mulayam Singh and BSP chief Mayawati among others.

“I have prepared a list of dishonest (politicians) of the country. If you come across any honest politician in the list then please tell me,” Kejriwal told the volunteers, adding “I am asking for the country’s approval on whether to defeat (these politicians) or send them to the Parliament.”

“I have started the list. Till evening, you (AAP workers) prepare a list and submit it to the party. They spent Rs 500 crore for image make over… To prepare brand Modi and brand Rahul, they are spending Rs 500 crore. Can these people, who spend Rs 500 crore for branding, give an honest government? After they come to power, they will recover that money from us,” the CM added.

Kejriwal said the party’s motto was not to seize power, but to eradicate corruption. “Our motto is not to seize power and do politics for power like BJP and Congress. Our motive should be no corrupt leader and no one from dynasty politics should enter Parliament,” he said.

He urged people to come forward and join anti-corruption fight, saying: “Do you feel AAP should field strong candidates against these people? If yes, come ahead and fight against them. AAP can’t fight them, it’s the people of India who should fight them.”
