GHAZIABAD: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was on a two-day dharna in the national capital, underwent a series of tests in a hospital here after suffering severe bouts of cough.

45-year-old Kejriwal, who had spent a cold night in the open during his over 30-hour protest outside Rail Bhavan, underwent some tests, including a CT scan, at the Yashoda Hospital here on Wednesday morning. He was accompanied by his family doctor.

Kejriwal was in the hospital for 45 minutes. “I came here to get my continuous cough treated. CT scan has also been conducted,” he told reporters outside the hospital after being examined by the doctors.

Dr Sunil, who treated Kejriwal at Yashoda Hospital, said the chief minister had complained of persistent cough.

“We have conducted several tests, including CT scan on him. We have asked him to take rest today,” said Dr Sunil, adding that reports of some tests would come on Thursday.

After the findings, the doctors will treat him accordingly.

AAP sources said the Delhi chief minister may not attend office on Wednesday.

The Delhi chief minister’s dharna in the heart of the national capital came to an end on Tuesday night after two police officers were sent on leave under a neat compromise with the Centre over his demand for suspension of five officials for alleged dereliction of duty.

The protest in the high-security Raisina Hill area ended following an assurance from LG Najeeb Jung.

Kejriwal announced that he was calling off the protest following the “victory” achieved by the people of Delhi.
