NEW DELHI: The Centre and the Delhi CM managed to strike a deal to end the unprecedented protest by the Delhi Council of Ministers with forced leave for two cops till completion of the inquiry.

CM Arvind Kejriwal thanked everybody who had extended support to the agitation and termed it as victory for the people of Delhi. He also regretted the inconvenience caused by the protest in the heart of the city.

The SHO of Malviya Nagar Police Station and PCR van in-charge of Paharganj were sent on leave paving the way for an end to the confrontation. Earlier, the Home Minister had refused to take action against the cops until the inquiry is complete.

To this Kejriwal had refused to call off the strike and spent Monday night on road in front of Rail Bhawan, continuing the agitation despite heavy rains in the morning.

Later clashes broke out twice between police and AAP supporters. A police constable was also injured in stone-pelting. Education Minister Manish Sisodia urged protesters to maintain peace and not break barricades.

Sisodia also condemned the Home Minister and the Delhi Police for not allowing drinking water to public. “Shinde is making the place like India and Pakistan war by not allowing water,” he said.

BJP takes on Congress, AAP

Opposition BJP has intensified its offensive against the AAP government in Delhi demanding resignation of Kejriwal who, the party accused, has failed to deliver what he promised.

Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel said people wanted governance from Kejriwal not chaos.

Goel along with 200 supporters, marched towards to protest venue before cops detained them mid-way. He blamed Congress equally too saying AAP is doing all this on the instructions from Congress. Since party is extending outside support to AAP government, the party has to share the blame for creating chaos.

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely wanred the CM on continuing the agitation. He said his party will be forced to reconsider its support if he continues like this. He also called Kejriwal the biggest liar of the country.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a PIL filed against the agitation by Kejriwal’s team.
