NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leader L K Advani was the only sitting MP to turn up at the Parliament to pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary on Thursday.

Advani who never misses such functions if he is present in the Capital, was accompanied by three former MPs. He showered petals at Netaji’s portrait in the Central Hall which was unveiled on January 23, 1978 by the then President of India Neelam Sanjiva Reddy. Among others present on the occasion were former members of Parliament Sheila Gautam, Ram Singh and Bratin Sengupta.

The function was organized by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. However, none of the presiding officers of both Houses turned up at the hour-long event. Even none of the Trinamool Congress and Forward Bloc MPs from West Bengal, who claim Netaji’s legacy in public, turned up.
