AMETHI: Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas kept his words to build the roof of a dalit woman’s house here two weeks ago. This is the woman at whose house Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had had a meal and spent a night in 2008.

A day after addressing his first rally here, Vishwas had met the woman, Sunita, in her house with his friends. The woman had been living with her family in a one-room hut without roof in the chilling winter.

The Samajwadi Party workers had burnt Sunita’s house before elections.

Vishwas, who is set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Amethi, had asked his party workers to help her in constructing a roof of asbestos sheets.

Sunita had told then her condition worsened after Rahul’s visit. Her husband lost the job he had got and her house was burnt by Samajwadi Party workers.

She had even once gone to Rahul who refused to recognise her. After she was introduced, Rahul asked one of his staff to help her. However, that never came.

The Samajwadi Party workers had built the walls of her house before the Uttar Pradesh elections. They, however, had refused to provide money for a roof.
