NEW DELHI: Three Ugandan women registered a complaint with Delhi Police asking for protection from people who have been forcing them into flesh trade even as AAP leaders claim the complaint vindicate Law Minister Somnath Bharti’s action last month.

Bharti has been drawing flak from many sections following his midnight face-off with Delhi Police officers in public at Khriki Extension area which was telecast live by TV channels.

Bharti had alleged that the African women have been running sex and drug racket in the area for long and ordered Malviya Nagar police to conduct midnight raid on a house where the alleged trade was being carried out.

However, the cops refused to raid the house citing lack of legal sanction as the Supreme Court had made clear that police have to wait till morning to conduct a raid on a house with women inside, even if femal cops are present there.

This led to heated exchange of words between the minister who was there with his supporters and police officers present. This snowballed into a controversy following which the entire Delhi Council of Ministers and AAP MLAs staged a protest near the Union Home ministry office who control Delhi Police.

Even Delhi CM and party chief Arvind Kejriwal had come under severe criticism for conduct the protest to only protect the tainted ministers, accused leaders from rival parties and social activits including women groups.

They alleged Bharti’s actions defame te community of African women staying in the Capital and prosecute him on appropriate charges following his removal from the ministry.

On Monday, AAP leaders accused BJP leaders and their PM candidate Narendra Modi conspiring to topple the Kejriwal government by hook or by crook. This infuriated BJP leadership who began a protest in the streets of the Capital since Tuesday morning.
