A two-minute-34-second video on the first voter of independent India has gone viral on Youtube recently. The video, a part of a campaign recently launched by Google India encouraging electors to vote, has been viewed 2801997 times so far.

The short movie is based on the 97-year-old Shyam Saran Negi from Himachal Pradesh who had never missed an election to vote since 1951, the first general elections in India after Independence.

India is witnessing its 16th Lok Sabha elections since last month. About 800 millions of voters are expected to participate in the polls, the largest democratic exercise in the world. The eighth phase of polling will take place on May 07, followed by the last phase on May 12.
