BJP wins but #DelhiDialogue of AAP trends on Twitter

NEW DELHI: On a day when Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government won the confidence motion on the floor of the Maharashatra assembly, an initiative by AAP to make Delhi a world class city dominated trends on Twitter.

AAP volunteers said ‘#DelhiDialogue trending on Twitter’ was a gift to BJP for joining hands with NCP to cling to power. Top BJP leaders including PM Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah used to call NCP Naturally Corrupt Party until assembly elections were over in Maharashtra.

Congress-NCP coalition government ruled Maharashtra for 15 years before BJP, the single largest party, formed government for the first time in the state. The Devendra Fadnavis-led government won the trust motion on a voice vote on Wednesday as NCP abstained from voting.

AAP volunteers have launched the #DelhiDialogue campaign keeping in mind the assembly elections in Delhi which is likely to take place in early 2015.

The party had lost popularity among Delhiites after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal chose to resign as Delhi Chief Minister 49 days after ruling the city. People still believe Kejriwal betrayed people’s trust in him and ran away from responsibilities.

However, the social activist-turned-politician has recently admitted in public that it was his fault to resign then and promised to continue for five years if voted this time.

As BJP is banking heavily on the charisma of PM Narendra Modi, its tallest leader at the moment, AAP strategists believe Kejriwal’s apology and achievements of his 49-day government would convince the voters to vote for the party for the second time.
