Sadhvi Niranjan apologises but is it enough?

0

NEW DELHI: Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had to apologise in the Parliament on Tuesday for her controversial speech and abuses in a public meeting earlier.

Following strong uproar in the House and intervention by the PM, the minister read a statement of apology after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his displeasure over such remarks by a minister which could bring disrepute to the government and the party also.

However, the minister showed no remorse on her face while reading the statement nor her body language suggested so.

Should Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti continue in the Union Cabinet?

After opposition leaders strongly condemned her utterances and demanded her removal from the Cabinet, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu took up the matter with leadership and the minister was reportedly told to beg an apology in the House.

The question remains is an apology enough for a minister to violate Constitutional norms brazenly and continue in the Cabinet? Share your opinion.
