Hunkar rally: unprecedented crowd, Modi calls Nitish ‘opportunist’

Patna: BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi challenged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on his home turf on Sunday.

Addressing a rally with unprecedented crowd at the Gandhi Maidan here, Modi called Kumar opportunist for severing ties with the BJP on Modi’s elevation as the PM candidate.

However, Modi decided not to mention the series of blasts in the city a day before that left five people dead and several injured in his speech.

“When people ask me why the Bihar chief minister left us, I say the man who left JP (socialist leader Jai Prakash Narain) won’t stay with the BJP,” said Modi with thunderus applauds from the crowd. “It was a betrayal to not just the BJP but people of this country by the Janata Dal United.”

Modi alleged that Kumar was advised by his sidekicks, “align with the Congress… this is an opportunity to become the PM”.
