Railway man saves hundreds of passengers at the cost of own life

BHUBANESWAR: In a rare act of bravery, an employee of Indian Railways sacrificed his own life to save hundreds of passengers in Odisha on Sunday.

Duryodhan Behera, working as a Key Man with Eastern Railways, was informed by some villagers nearby that six clips were found loose near a level crossing. Clips are used with pedals to for a firm grip of railway tracks so that trains do not get derailed running at high speed.

He rushed to the spot and began tightening the clips as the Ahmedabad-Puri Super Fast Express was approaching fast. Villagers shouted shouting but the brave-heart chose duty over his life and finished all six clips back on order as he the train hit him to drag his body for nearly 200 meters. An accident was averted and hundreds of passengers got saved.
