NEW DELHI: The NaMo camp got a shot in the arm as DMK chief K Karunanidhi praised Narendra Modi, the PM candidate of BJP, once again on Friday. Talking to a Tamil daily, Karunanidhi described Modi as a hard worker and good friend besides an able administrator.

Karunanidhi’s praise of Modi came days after Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan announced a tie-up with BJP in Bihar and AIADMK chief Jayalalitha’s decision to form the Third Front along with ten other parties including the Left.

“Modi is my good friend. His consistent campaign across the nation shows he is a hard worker,” Karunanidhi said after he was asked his opinion on Modi.

Sources confirmed that the BJP has been making serious efforts to form an alliance with the DMK in Tamil Nadu, especially after Jayalalitha chose to distance herself from Modi despite her enjoying good relations with him.

Besides DMK, BJP is also keen for a tie-up with PMK and DMDK in Tamil Nadu. However, a section in BJP fears any tie-up with DMK may damage the party’s prospects due to the 2G scandal.
