BJP seeks EC nod to sell onions at subsidised rates in Delhi
New Delhi: The BJP has sought permission from the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi to sell onions at cheaper rates in the city.

The request came a day after the Election Commission granted permission to the Congress government to buy onions and sell them at a lesser price in the national capital, as per a story published on the Economic Times.

In a letter to CEO Vijay Dev, BJP leader R P Singh expressed concern about the high prices of onions in Delhi.

“The people are not in a position to purchase onions and other vegetables at such high prices. Onions are essential part of daily requirement of every kitchen…We are very much concerned about the problems of the people and want to help them in getting onion at affordable rates,” the letter stated.

The party asked for permission to purchase onions in large quantity from wholesale market and “sell them to the people directly without making any profit so that people of Delhi get some relief.”
